  2. the correct exposure - the length of time the
  3. camera shutter should be open under given
  4. light conditions. Meters use substances such
  5. as cadmium sulphide and selenium as light
  6. sensors. These materials change electrically
  7. when light strikes them, the change being
  8. proportional to the intensity of the incident
  9. light. Many cameras have a built-in exposure
  10. meter that sets the camera controls
  11. automatically as the light conditions change.
